The measurement file

Size & stitching

Every piece is cut in our Delhi atelier. Stock pieces follow the chart below; made-to-order pieces are cut to the measurements you send us, and your file is kept for the next commission.

The chart

Body measurements in inches. Blouses and kurtas are cut with two inches of ease; sarees drape free and need only a blouse size.

Between sizes? Take the larger, a seam can come in, it cannot go out. Bridal lehengas are always made to measure, never to the chart.

How to measure

Measure over the undergarments you will wear with the piece, tape flat against the body, standing naturally. A friend helps; a tailor is better.

01

Bust

Around the fullest part of the bust, tape level across the back. Do not pull tight, the tape should rest, not press.

02

Waist

Around the natural waist, the narrowest point, usually an inch above the navel. Breathe out and measure relaxed.

03

Hip

Around the fullest part of the hip and seat, roughly eight inches below the waist, feet together.

04

Shoulder & arm

Shoulder bone to shoulder bone across the back, then shoulder to wrist with the arm slightly bent, for blouses and cholis with sleeves.

The made-to-order file

When you commission a made-to-order piece we open a measurement file against your account, twelve measurements, noted by the master tailor who cuts your cloth. Bodies change; you may update or erase the file at any time by writing to us.
